This painting also abstractly alludes to the history of art and music. Specifically, how modernization rapidly changed the way we connect with culture through these art forms. It is hard to know how art and expression can be harmful at the moment, but the way we memorialize our culture through art can reduce other perspectives and ideologies that forge these truths. I was thinking mainly about Blues music being the core of so much modern music, and how many people are unaware of the extent Black people have on Rock. I love Led Zeppelin, but that’s a great example of erasing the larger history of music evolution for the general public!
