ABOUT SABRINA

Sabrina Copeland is a Seattle-based emerging artist and designer working across a range of media, mainly focusing on soft pastels and oil. She moved from Dallas to Seattle in 2022, where she is currently studying Interaction Design at the University of Washington.

With a constant look at the cognitive space, Sabrina’s work and process both intertwine with her psyche; art becomes a chance to expose and heal the brain and soul. Her work combines the world of science to the metaphysical and spiritual.

At the core of her art and is a desire to create art that can be experienced, felt, and transcend. She has worked as an illustrator for Creative Content Services, LLC, where she unified design and artistic intentions. After graduation she intends to pursue art and engage in design for artists.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I create for the same reason I dream - to discover the symbols that reflect my subconscious. MY ART IS DEEPLY PERSONAL; IT IS A REFLECTION OF MY OWN RELATIONSHIP TO MY SENSES AND TO THE EXTERIOR. THE ACT OF ALL MY CREATIONS IS A DEEP MEDITATION, AND THE SEARCH FOR A SATISFIED MIND ENGAGING WITH THE RICHNESS OF OTHERS.

It seems to me that the world is forever returning to music, dance, and rhythm; these vibrations exist under the skin and flow towards something eternal… something undefinable. I HAVE TRADED MY EARS FOR EYES, AND MY WISH AS A VISUAL ARTIST IS TO EXPRESS THE RHYTHM OF THE CURRENT.

The world is reaching a threshold for immense change; I find myself existing between the philosophies of surrealists and symbolists, I find myself thinking of the art and philosophy of marginalized groups. artists should engage with each other and with the community, as it is of vital importance for the health of humanism. My art exists among many others, and I will always be inspired by the world and people around me, AND THE REFLECTION THAT ART CREATES.
